Sports Injury Treatment:
Get Back in the Game Fast with Our Expertise
We prioritize continuity in your sport. With our specialized system, we can typically resolve or drastically improve your situation even while you are playing your sport. No shutdown is required!
Sports Rehabilitation
Rehabilitation Programs Designed for Speedy Recovery
Typical rehab programs take months to prove effective. We use the entirety of the kinetic chain to fix any muscle imbalances that contribute to your current injury or condition. Simply put, our programs get results faster!
Sports Massage:
Relieve Muscle Tension and Promote Healing
Relieve Muscle Tension and Promote Healing
A good therapist has “intuitive hands.” This means they are great at hunting for areas in need of treatment. They also have “purposeful touch.” This means they don’t just shred the area and create tons of soreness. They can give you relief without doing damage.
Physical Therapy for Athletes:
Targeted Exercises to Improve Performance and Prevent Injuries
Your program should be specific to you! Not simply your sport. Our approach is focused on identifying muscular imbalances and dysfunctional movement patterns by breaking down every move from a biomechanical standpoint. When these imbalances are corrected, our athletes can perform their moves more efficiently and improve their overall performance.
Sports Chiropractor:
Expert Chiropractic Care for Musculoskeletal Health
Our doctors are certified sports chiropractors who provide Olympic level of service to all of our patients. The chiropractors in our Nesconset sports medicine office hold certifications as Diplomates OF THE AMERICAN CHIROPRACTIC BOARD OF SPORTS PHYSICIANS (DACBSP) and Certified Chiropractic Sports Physicians (CCSP), the only Sports Medicine Chiropractic certifications in the United States that are recognized by the American Chiropractic Association.
Why You Should Choose True Sport care as Your Sports Medicine Clinic Near Smithtown
It could be our modern office, our one-on-one approach, or our proven faster results. It could be our affiliations with the highest levels of sport or it could also be intangible. Many people find it hard to put into words but anyone who has come from another office whether it be Chiro or PT has said that we are VERY different. I can’t speak to what others are doing but I don’t know why everyone doesn’t practice this way.

ASAP- we can typically get you in within 24. We try to make accommodations for emergencies on the same day.
We have taken in failed cases from PT’s, chiropractors, surgeries, etc. Difficult cases are our favorite! Our system technically should be everyone’s first choice when it comes to their musculoskeletal complaints. But if they find their way to us last, at least they found us. We can get them on the road to recovery.
Our system DOES put the onus on the patient. Meaning, that we will treat, but we will more importantly guide the patient so that they can aid in the rehab process. We may see someone 1-2X/week for 30-60 minutes. There’s a LOT of time out of the office that can be put to good use. Either doing daily rehab or starting to be more aware of things that may be upending our efforts. We get patients very in tune with their environment and help them understand their potential triggers.
We have a 3-visit promise. We KNOW we should make great progress in the first three visits however for a full resolution of symptoms it may take a little longer. It depends on how hard the patient would like to work. The more they are willing to do on their own, the less they will need us!
How are summer bodies built? In the winter. When are resilient athletic bodies built? In the off-season. It is often times easier to build a resilient body when the sports stress that is placed on the body is more controllable. We do want external stresses however with games, practices, scrimmages, etc, it is harder to control those external stresses.
Athletes of every level deserve to have the best treatment possible. More importantly, they need to understand the “How” and “Why” of their injury. We explain how their injury came about, how it affects their body and therefore they will have the tools necessary to prevent it in the future.
Every professional athlete started somewhere. With a solid team of sports medicine specialists supporting an athlete, their potential can be achieved. Just about every athlete will experience an injury over the course of their career. It is how well the injury is managed that dictates their trajectory.
Our Long Island sports medicine clinic has a team of the best sports medicine professionals in the area ready to treat your injuries and improve your performance. A sports medicine physician is an MD who specializes in sports. A CCSP is a chiropractor who specializes in sports.
The key difference between a Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician (or Practitioner, depending on the state board) (CCSP®) and a Sports Medicine Physician lies in their training, focus, and approach to treating athletes and injuries in general.
A CCSP® is a chiropractor who has received specialized training in sports injuries and athlete performance optimization. They have a deep understanding of neurological and musculoskeletal functions, focusing on how these aspects influence athletic performance, particularly when dealing with stressed or injured tissues. This certification is an indication of a chiropractor’s commitment to advancing their knowledge in sports-related chiropractic care. For those who further their expertise, the DACBSP® – Diplomate of the American Chiropractic Board of Sports Physicians – represents an advanced level of training.
On the other hand, a Sports Medicine Physician is a medical doctor who specializes in the treatment of physical fitness and the treatment and prevention of injuries related to sports and exercise. They may come from various medical backgrounds such as family medicine, internal medicine, or orthopedics, and they receive additional training in sports medicine. Their scope is broader, often encompassing various aspects of physical health, including injury prevention, rehabilitation, performance enhancement, and managing chronic conditions through a sports-focused lens.
A sports medicine practitioner with a Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician (CCSP) certification and an orthopedic sports medicine specialist differ in their training and treatment approaches. A CCSP is a chiropractor with specialized training in sports medicine, focusing on non-surgical methods like spinal adjustments and joint manipulation to treat sports injuries and improve athletic performance. Conversely, an orthopedic sports medicine specialist is a medical doctor with additional training in orthopedics, capable of performing both conservative treatments and surgical interventions for a wide range of musculoskeletal sports injuries. While both aim to enhance athlete performance and treat sports injuries, their methods and scope of practice vary significantly.
The difference between a sports medicine practitioner with a Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician (CCSP) certification and a physical therapist lies in their educational background, treatment focus, and methods.
A CCSP is a chiropractor who has specialized training in sports medicine. Their focus is on diagnosing and treating sports-related injuries primarily through chiropractic techniques such as spinal adjustments, joint manipulation, therapeutic exercise programming and other non-invasive methods. They emphasize the neurological and musculoskeletal systems to enhance athletic performance and treat injuries.
In contrast, a physical therapist (PT) is a healthcare professional who specializes in physical rehabilitation. Their training is centered on helping patients recover from injuries, surgeries, or manage chronic conditions through exercises, stretching, and other physical modalities. PTs develop personalized rehabilitation programs to improve mobility, strength, and function, often working with a wide range of patients, not just athletes.

What to Expect During a Visit to our Sports Medicine Clinic
1. First Consultation and Evaluation
During your first consultation, we will pepper you with questions pertaining to your chief complaint. This will be when we start formulating a list of suspected muscles to test.
After finding the culprits, we will then target the issues with our soft tissue arsenal and teach you how to wake up the underused structures via our YouTube channel or App exercises. These are to be done daily so the reprogramming can take place faster. You will actually feel the changes within the first week
2. Frequency of Appointments
When someone is acute – meaning in a lot of pain – they can be seen multiple times in a week. More typically we schedule patients once per week initially. When we start gaining traction with their issues we start weaning them off from care. We have always said that the less you need us, the better the job we’re doing.
3. Duration Of Treatment
Your visit to our sports medicine clinic will be filled with helpful treatments that you can’t do on your own. Your 30 or 60-minute appointment will be with the Doctor the entire time. We rarely leave your side so no lollygagging! Prepare to work.
4. You Will Feel Better
Our goal is to make you feel at least 40-50% better on your first visit.
