Gymnast Overcomes Back Pain and Boosts Her Athletic Performance
Bayla, a level 10 gymnast, came to True Sport Care and Chiropractic with chronic back pain. The debilitating pain in her back prevented back movements and long periods of standing and sitting. Other medical professionals had only provided short-term adjustments for Bayla’s back, but none presented her with a permanent solution.
Assessment
To diagnose the issue, we performed muscle tests to discover where the imbalance was in her back. The tests revealed that the muscles in the middle of Bayla’s back were weak and needed our attention.
Treatment
The first exercise we assigned to her was breathing exercises. It turned out that when doing gymnastics, Bayla would hold her breath when bracing, a significant contributor to her muscle weakness. She needed to learn to brace and breathe simultaneously. We also gave her exercises to strengthen the middle of her back and her ankle, which would provide a long-term solution to the problem.
Outcome
After only three or four sessions, Bayla started experiencing significant improvements in her back. She now comes to us almost weekly to help maintain her health and improve her athletic ability. Furthermore, she no longer struggles with back pain and is confident in her skills and ability to perform without injury.
Injuries are part of an athlete’s life, but when they occur, it is critical for athletes to receive the best treatment possible. We are happy to help Bayla whenever she has any pain or injury inhibiting her performance. Recently, she came to us with ankle pain caused by an issue in the ligaments. We were able to provide her with the necessary treatment instantly and get her back in the game quickly and efficiently.
Future Goals
Today, Bayla is a level ten gymnast, the highest level in Junior Olympic gymnastics, and has become the bar state champion. She is planning to continue her gymnastics career in college.
